Heads up! The Global Center for Gifted and Talented Children is holding the next "Global Virtual Meeting for Gifted Education in Second Life", Mayl 25th 2013 at 9 p.m. CEST. Invited speaker is Ian Warwick (UK).
Ian Warwick set up and is Senior Director of London Gifted & Talented (www.londongt.org) part of the groundbreaking London Challenge, who have tackled issues of disadvantage across the city since 2004. LG&T have directly worked with well over 3,000 schools and 11,000 teachers nationally. More than 150,000 educators worldwide have used our free e resources.
Ian has published extensively in the field of education, with dozens of articles and chapters in national and international journals. He has spoken at many national and world conferences and is consultant editor for Gifted Education International. He has also written award winning high challenge e-learning materials and several film screenplays.
He is currently also Director of the REAL Project (www.realproject.org.uk), a national programme that for five years has led the way to improve the provision of education for BME and EAL students. He has established and led several independent state school partnerships across the UK. He developed a suite of customised online learning materials for the Hong Kong Academy and for schools in Singapore and has worked directly with networks of schools in many countries across Europe and Africa, as well as in the Middle and Far East.
Ian started by teaching in inner city comprehensives for eighteen years. He was then invited to lead the RBK&C and Westminster Local Authority’s Gifted Education Strand in 2000. In 2003, he wrote the vision document and assembled the consortium of leading Local Authorities and Higher Educational Institutions across the capital that formed LG&T.
Ian’s chief areas of interest are professional development and urban gifted education, designing materials that address academic literacy for disadvantaged and underachieving students, online and independent education and ways to increase creativity and intellectual curiosity.

About the Event:
Exploring the possibilities of Gifted Education in Second Life The purpose of the conference is to cultivate a global virtual meeting, sharing knowledge and experience about gifted education for students, educators, teachers and parents. The concept for these meetings was created by Roya Klingner, head and founder of the Bavarian Center for Gifted and Talented Children and the first meeting was held in August 2010.
The event is open for everyone free of charge.
